The beginnings of The { j } List...
1. Take a random medley of photographs and make them into a graphic series digitally using Photoshop, Illustrator, etc... 2. Drink Darjeeling Tea with milk and honey underneath the stars on your back porch. 3. Read a challenging foreign view on international affairs 4. Throw a blanket in your backyard and watercolor in the evening shadows 5. Frequent cafes with inviting names like Lollicup and Cafe Society with a good friend 6. Be passionate about produce. Frequent Farmer's Markets and Organic Grocery Stores for produce previously considered "out of your league". 7. Fill a journal page with small circles and then paint them in with colors and patterns that represent parts of your life 8. Keep your resume' fresh and revise regularly. Keep a job portfolio with job descriptions that may seem out of reach and then make it an ongoing goal to actively achieve all the qualifications for your personal interest. 9. Glue an envelope inside your journal with no designated purpose and watch how you fill it up. 10. Watch C-Span with a mind devoid of boredom. 11. Write a letter to your future self @ FutureMe.org 12. Write a letter to someone you respect and think about mailing it. 13. Buy flowers for someone for no particular reason 14. List all of the places you've ever l ived and your favorite cafes, corners, benches, places of solitude that you enjoyed at each of them. 15. Become a secret know-it-all about one particular thing: culture, country, era of art, style of music., school of thought, model of car... 16. Write morning pages (3 pages) to unclutter your head and awaken your creativity 17. Buy a completely different type of fromage than you would ever consider 18. Draw what's occupying your nightstand. 19. Subscribe to the GRE Word of the Day 20. Write a Haiku for a friend on the back of a postcard you made and mail it. 21. Get acquainted with a new artist or art museum 22. Read a story with a child. 23. Learn basic first aid. 24. Buy an old used book in a foreign country, in a foreign language, and recreate it into your personal journal. 25. Buy fairly traded products. 26. Do something for nothing (like an internship for 400 hours). 27. Take time to listen. 28. Buy used books rather than new ones 29. Buy gelato for a perfect stranger 30. Make a care package 31. Express gratitude for something. 32. Create a "5 am" collage of a treasured early morning ritual. 33. Wake up. Make a painting. 34. Read Pablo Neruda's poetry. 35. Drive home with the windows open and the music liberatingly loud. 36. Go to a cafe and write a friendly affirmation on a napkin to the first person that comes to your mind. 37. Buy a Precis ballpoint pen and scribble lots of good stuff. 38. Sew something beautiful. 39. Play tennis at midnight. 40. Ponder Keat's quote "that a life properly lived is a 'vale of soul-making'". 41. Read Anne Morrow Lindbergh's Gift From the Sea. 42. Make a list of creative spaces to travel to. 43.
